In 2024, I was elected council-member for District 1 of Erie, where I garnered over 4,000 votes. In my role, I am a vocal advocate for affordable housing, transportation access, and equity for all. I also serve as a liaison for the Sustainability Advisory Board, Airport Economic Advisory Board, and Historic Preservation Advisory Board.
My journey began in a small village in India, where my childhood was shaped by both limited opportunity and the harsh realities of caste-based discrimination. Still, my parents believed that only education could open doors that we had never seen, and they made countless sacrifices to ensure my brother and I had a chance at life. Despite the odds, we became the first in our family to go to college, driven by parents who, despite having little, instilled in us the belief that education could change everything.Â
But I knew my journey wasn’t meant to stop there. With just the clothes on my back, I flew over 9,000 miles to pursue a dream no one in my family had dared to imagine: moving to the United States.Â
I earned my Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and, two decades later, returned to school to complete my MBA from the University of Iowa. In 2023, I ran for the BVSD school board, and while I did not win, 9,000 families placed their trust in me to represent their hopes for their children’s education.
As a member of CBOC, I gained insight into responsible budgeting, community planning, and the importance of investing in long-term projects that benefit everyone. This experience reinforced my commitment to making informed, strategic decisions for the future of our town.
I have founded and run numerous small businesses, including my very own food truck. I understand the challenges local businesses face and the importance of supporting their growth and success in our community.
As a House Representative, I hope to continue working to advocate for working families on the state level.
I believe every child deserves access to quality teachers, technology, and learning environments, regardless of gender, race, or income. As a member of the Community Bond Oversight Committee for BVSD, I will ensure our concerns are represented in Board meetings.
Housing prices in Colorado have become too high for many families, creating barriers to homeownership and stability. I will advocate for more diverse housing options to help working families stay in the community and protect tenants from displacement due to rising costs.
I am a strong proponent that our communities thrive on diversity of experience and perspective. As ICE raids continue to rise, I will advocate for protections from unlawful detainments, ensuring that everyone has access to their due process rights and sense of safety.
In the face of federal cuts and animosity towards DEI initiatives, I will continue to fight for the inclusion of all community members. I am committed to promoting these values by embracing a wide range of perspectives and ensuring that everyone has fair access to resources and opportunities.
I don’t come from big political machines or big money. During my Town Council election, I knocked on over 4,000 doors, twice, because I believed that authentically connecting with my neighbors was my ticket to this election. And it was. I won with 3,992 votes.Â
This campaign is no different. We are running a people-powered campaign, and it won’t be possible without everyone’s help. Join our grassroots campaign today, and help me make a difference in House District 19.Â
